Step 1
Attend the Principles & Practices of Real Estate pre-licensing course. A minimum of sixty (60) hours is required.

Step 2
Pass the course final exam with a grade of 70% or better.

Step 3
Complete the Connecticut Individual Resident Salesperson application.  Original course certificates are required.                
                
Step 4
Have your application notarized.

Step 5
Present your application in person or mail to the Connecticut Real Estate Commission.  Be sure to include your Principles & Practices
Graduation Certificate and check for $40.

Step 6
Once your salesperson application has been processed, the State will forward your information to Promissor Examination Services.  You should receive an "Examination Eligibility" certificate within 45 days after you submit your application.  
              
Step 7
Once you receive your eligibility certificate, contact "Promissor" to make an appointment to sit for the State Licensing Exam. You can register via telephone at 800-470-8759 between 8:00 AM and 11:00 PM (Mon-Fri), 8:00am-5:00pm (Saturdays) or 10:00am-4:00pm (Sundays). Note: Testing centers are located in Wallingford CT,  Wethersfield CT and West Springfield MA.  The Fee is $55 ($52 retake fee).  Walk-ins are not accepted and payment will not be accepted at test centers.

Step 8

The State Licensing Exam is computerized and composed of two parts, General Real Estate and CT Practice & Law.  You will receive a "Pass" certificate for each section.  
Note: If you do not pass one or both of the sections the first time, you only have to re-take the portion you failed. However, you must make an appointment with Promissor and pay the appropriate fee.

Step 9

Once you have passed both portions of the State exam, you are eligible to affiliate yourself with a Real Estate Company and start practicing real estate sales.
